News and Prayers Needed:
Jacob Fuentes, Ruth Cassidy's grandson will have back surgery
on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the Bay Area. The surgery is expected to take
approximately 10 hours-Carl Griffis will be going to see a doctor in
Palo Alto on November 4-Continue to keep in prayer Charlotte Hilton as
she undergoes chemotherapy- While visiting Erin in Washington, D.C., Beth
Newton fell. At this time she is experiencing quite a bit of pain-Rick
Wall had a tough week with back problems.
Condolences are
extended to the Griffis family with the loss of their daughter-in-law, Janella
Stevens (Lisa's mother). Janella passed away on Tuesday, October 21, in Tulare. A graveside service at Hillcrest will be held on Tuesday, October 28 at 1:30.

There is still a need for
three ladies to complete the 2009 zone list. One for Zone A and two for Zone
C. A bright yellow sign up sheet is on the bulletin
board in the foyer.
The Cookbooks are still
available for $15.00 from Karen Garrett on Sundays or Marsha
Searle on Wednesday nights.
The Senior Saints
Thanksgiving Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, November 15th
at 5:00 P.M. A sign up sheet has been posted on the bulletin board if you
would like to attend. The deadline to attend is Sunday, November 9th.
West Visalia Church of
Christ Ladies Day is scheduled for November 1st starting at 9 a.
m. If you would like to attend, a flyer is posted on the bulletin board with
more information.
The Christmas
Parade will be held on
Tuesday, December 2nd. We will be using LeeRoy's wagon. There is a need
for volunteers to help decorate the wagon. The decorations will stay on until
after we carol on December 20th which will begin at 12:00 p.m.
The Annual
Christmas Dinner, "The Spirit of Santa is a Christian Attitude" has been scheduled for
Friday, December 5th. The cost is $7.00. Children five and under are free. The
evening will start at 6:00 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30. This year we will
have tables reserved for individual families and groups. The deadline to sign
up to attend the dinner is November 30th, so be sure to sign up early.
Tweens
Learning to Be a Servant
The Tweens are asking for
donations of miscellaneous food items to finish filling the Thanksgiving food
baskets. Also if you are shopping at Save Mart and receive a free turkey
with your purchase, they ask for you to consider donating the turkey to them.
If you would like to make a cash donation towards the purchase of turkeys, it
would be very much appreciated. See Sally Wall or Rhonda Davis. The
Tweens will have a pizza party and assemble Thanksgiving baskets on Wednesday,
November 12th. The delivery of baskets will take place on November
16th.

Rejoiced in Texas
As well as here in Porterville last
week. Deonne and Monte received word that their granddaughter, Denae Shake,
was baptized by her father, Dan, on Sunday. Congratulations to Denae and her
family in her decision to dedicate her life to God.

thoughtfulness and generosity are so much appreciated to Jack and I. We love
you all for what you did to make our wedding to beautiful and memorable. A
special thank you to Stan, Ron and Frank for their help in moving us. Thank

Note from
the Elders
The Elders and Ministers of this
congregation meet regularly on Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. Any member of the
congregation wishing to meet with the leadership is welcome to schedule a
meeting time with the Elders or chair for that month. The Elders rotate chairing
these meetings as well as the monthly ministry meeting, and serve as a point of
contact for the congregation in the event of a special need. The elder serving
as chair during the month of November is Russell.
