Our Family Encampment will be next weekend. This year's theme will be, "Discovering and Using Your Gifts for God." This will be a fun weekend and spiritually uplifting to all. Make plans to attend. On Saturday night there will be a talent show. Come prepared to perform. Our first devotional is Friday night at 8:00 p.m. and remember to bring your favorite snacks to share during game night. Please try and have your money turned into the office this week.

The Monthly Ministry Meeting today at 5:00 p.m. If you are in need of a Ministry report form, they are located in the foyer.

Ladies, sign up to be a Zone Coordinator for the year 2009. There is a bright yellow sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the foyer. Sign up early to get the month that would be most convenient for you.

The Senior Saints Thanksgiving Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, November 15th at 5:00 p. m. A sign up sheet has been posted on the bulletin board if you would like to attend.

In the upcoming November election, we will be voting on a critical proposition to amend our California State constitution. Proposition 8 states "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." On Sunday morning, October 26th, Chris will present a sermon dealing with this issue, and that Sunday evening we will view a DVD entitled "Proposition 8 and the Case for Traditional Marriage." Please make a special effort to attend these services on the 26th as we discuss what is at stake for the future of the family in our state and country.

The Monthly Area Wide Singing will be hosted by the Lindsay Church of Christ on October 24th, at 7:00 p. m. For more information a flyer is posted on the bulletin board.

Congratulations! To Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hicks, who were married on Friday evening.

      Relay for Life

We would like to thank all those who were involved with this year's "Relay for Life." To Marshall Brookey and Terri Jetton for their dedication and many hours of hard work to make sure it was a success. To Dena Tallercio for helping out where ever it was needed. To Ruth Cassidy for her fund raising ability and donating the beautiful afghan. To all those who took time to be walkers and to Boy Scout Troop #152 for making sure someone was always on the track.

With everyone's financial help, we raised approximately $2,300.00 to go towards cancer treatment here in Porterville. Also congratulations to Karen Russell for being the winner of the afghan.

Teachers Appreciation Dinner

"Thank you" is extended to Rick and Sally Wall for hosting a wonderful dinner and honoring our Sunday School teachers. Everyone had a great time fellowshipping and enjoyed the Wall's gorgeous back yard. You are both loved and appreciated.

Thank you!

I want to thank those who sent birthday wishes my way this past week. I am always touched by the expression of love and encouragement that is continually bestowed on me. The past 15 years this congregation has been such a blessing to me and my family. May God continue to keep you in His loving care.   Karen
